Before joining industry in 2000, Alain was a tenured professor at Laval University in Quebec City. He holds a Physics Engineering degree from École Polytechnique and a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona. Alain has 40+ patent families, 80+ peer-reviewed publications, and 175+ presentations to his name. His expertise spans defence and security, biophotonics, communications, and spectroscopy.

Alain’s entrepreneurial spirit has led him to assist multiple companies with product development and strategic planning. He previously served as VP of Advanced Research at ITF Optical Technologies.
